Man arrested in North Carolina after faking COVID-19 and coughing on customers in Wal-Mart

A 26-year-old man in Belmont, North Carolina has been arrested after police say he coughed on customers in Wal-Mart and then told them he was positive for COVID-19.

Robert Eugene Heffner, 26, was arrested Friday night in Belmont.

Arrest warrants say Heffner “purposely coughed at a customer” and said he had coronavirus.

The warrant warns that his actions could cause fear among the public.

Jail records show that Heffner was charged with misdemeanor counts of a pubic health violation and failure to comply.

What would you do if someone claimed that had COVID-19 and coughed on you?
