A Jacksonville, N.C. man was sentenced to an anger management assessment and 12 months of unsupervised probation Monday after pleading guilty to abusing his girlfriend’s service dog.

Remember back in April when I told you all that I saw and recorded a man choking a small dog, hitting and then slinging the dog against a dumpster? If you don’t, here’s the video below:

Brian Brois Jr. is the man in the video.

Monday, he pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty.

Brois initially told investigators that the dog tried to bite him despite the evidence provided to investigators that showed otherwise.

Judge Welch handed his sentence down to Brois Monday morning in Onslow County District Court.

Brois told the courts that he made a mistake.
